As a native Californian I have visited many of the Spanish missions throughout the state. All fourth grade students in the state study the missions and usually have to build a model and do a lengthy report. When our son, Albert, was doing his report and model, which became a family project, we visited several missions. Mission Walk is based on an afternoon spent at Mission San Juan Capistrano. It was a quite afternoon as we strolled the grounds. The richness of color against the architecture intrigued me and I knew that I had to capture the afternoon on canvas. It was a wonderful day spent with my family…and no, we did not see one swallow at Capistrano!
