I was born in the heart of Los Angeles and as I was growing up one of my favorite places to visit was Descanso Gardens near Pasadena. Acres and acres of trees and flowers bloom all year long. Now, my wife and I take our young son there to run and play just as I did years ago. One Sunday afternoon in spring, I spotted this cart brimming with flowers surrounded by a thick grove of trees. As my son played I sketched what became known as "The Flower Cart". Each time I look at this painting it brings back the sweet memories of that special Sunday outing on that warm spring day.
